Illegal dumping is a crime and generally occurs in remote locations and in neighborhoods. Illegal dumping severely damages neighborhoods and the environment. For the following reasons and for the health and safety of yourself, your family, and the community, report illegal dumping!

  • Property values decline.
  • Unreported illegal dumping results in more illegal dumping activity.
  • Dumped material is:
    • A breeding habitat for mice, rats and mosquitoes that spread diseases such as encephalitis, hantavirus and West Nile virus.
    • Hazardous to the environment, as refrigerators, tires, auto parts and televisions contain heavy metals and other toxins, and is a traffic hazard when left in the public right-of-way.
  • Illegal dumping costs County tax payers hundreds of thousands of dollars each year.
  • Without the help of all County residents and visitors, the problem of illegal dumping will grow.
